600 is as fine as you need to go. Color wetsand your basecoat just enough to knock off the gloss. Do the same with your clear coats. This is done to all coats and may be done to the primer as well. Apply the last clear coat fairly heavy, and don't wet sand it. If you use lacquers, buff it out after 30 days, if you use anything else, leave it alone.
